ZSudoku -New

GEM implementation of Sudoku.
Several levels of dificulty. Has the ability to save and load games. You can test your tiles to see if you've made any mistakes and take a snapshot of your game in progress and save it as a GIF.

All in all a good solid implementation, that will provide you with one more option for wasting away the hours waiting for your friends to show up online.

Program and documentation in German

I say new, but it's actually from last year. I just missed it when it was released. However a 2006 release is close enough to new for me to classify it as such.

A few updates

I found a few more games that we didn't have indexed yet and I fixed some download links that were broken. Sorry it took me awhile to get to them, this site has lower priority for me than HighWire. If you have any tips for where to find a missing game or toy, catch me on ICQ.

I also accidentally deleted the old link for Klikomania, but I put a new one up. This is only of note since Klikomania was the first file I added to the site.

DGEM 1.0 Released - NEW

Pierre TONTHAT reports in comp.sys.atari.st ...

Bonjour :)

The Dungeon Master clone for GEM (latest machines or enhanced emulators
for Ataris) is now complete.

Download on my homepage or directly at http://rajah.atari.org/files/
-> dgem100.zip (1.8 KB, 8MB unzipped)

News:
- missiles: thrown objects, spells casting, etherical effects
- last remaining spells
- Chaos' death
- wall items: amalgam, exit, dagger thrower, fireball or venom generators
- trigger for alcoves: activates something if put/remove precise object.
- some bugfixes

Apologizes for the 'thin' labyrinth, but I had no inspiration. Please
feel free to edit it, geek it, build your own adventure and propose it
to others.

The program is now yours. Hope you'll enjoy.

I suppose I have forgotten some bugs, so there will be some fixes from
time to time. If you have suggestions, they are welcomed, but please
wait a little time and give me a little period of rest.

DEditor 1.0 Released - NEW

Pierre TON-THAT reports in comp.sys.atari.st...

Deditor is the dungeon editor for DGEM.
Works on every Atari since 640*400*16c and a modern OS (MagiC advised)

Download on my homepage or directly at http://rajah.atari.org/files/
- dedi100.zip (150 KB)

Snapshot at http://rajah.atari.org/images/snapshots/deditor_snap.png

DGEM 1.0 is finished and it will be released probably tomorrow or
sunday. Please give me time to build an example of a dungeon.
The purpose of DEditor is for you to create and propose new adventures.

As a reminder, DGEM is a dungeon Master clone, running under GEM
environement, with lastest Ataris OS or enhanced emulators.
Better have enough RAM (TTRAM managed) and a modern OS such as MagiC.

You can already download:
- ddoc100_fr.zip (23 KB, french guides)
- ddev100.zip (450 KB, GFA sources)

Snapshot here

The game uses the old graphics, so you'd better have one of the original
disks of Dungeon Master or Chaos Strikes Back.

Please wait for the next release...

Gem Panic 0.90 -New

GemPanic version 0.90. Blast the invading aliens.

Back in 1994, someone in my Atari usergroup bet me that I couldn't write an Arcade game that ran in all GEM resolutions. I won that bet at the time with a program known as Astropanic 94. It was one of my first large scale C projects. Since that time, OS's have changed and AstroPanic94 wouldn't run on alot of machines. From time to time people would ask me to update it. Well the code is a mess, it was as I said one of my first large scale C projects. I do offer for your enjoyment Gem Panic.

While GEM Panic is NOT Astropanic. It is meant to bring back some of the feel of Astropanic. Colorful sprites fly around the window either trying to ram you or drop a bomb down your throat. Animated explosions flash on the screen while DMA sounds blast out of your speakers. Shoot or die, but watch out or you will blow your Accuracy bonus!

There is one major thing to warn you about. Double buffering 8bit sprites takes a bit of horsepower. Realistically an 030 machine or better is needed for play. It has been tested and does run quite well on the CT60.

Game and Documentation in English.

Requirements:
Fast Machine!!!!
minimum resolution 640x400
8 bit color or better recommended (lower bit depths will work)
GEMJing v 1.40 if you want to use GEMJing sound option.
Multitasking OS recommended.

Compo a wash this year

Officially breaking the bad news. The few potential entries there were going to be, will not be completed in any sort of nearby time frame. So no voting this year. Maybe we will try again next year.

However to make up for any sadness on your part for not getting any new games, I actually got my programming butt into gear and am finishing up a new game release. With a bit of luck you will see it released on this site sometime later today.

Every year...

It seems like every year at this time something happens beyond my control. This year it was a major snow and ice storm just before Christmas. While it was wonderful to get an extra day off of work, it also took out the DSL lines at work. Without DSL lines at work, I can't check that email account. So if you have mailed me in the last week and got no reply. You know what happened now.

Hopefully it will be back up before too much longer. So if you were close to being done but need a bit more time to finish take a bit more time and drop me an email. As of the writting of this I have officially received no entries in the compo. When my office is back online I'll get the mail and judge what to do at that point.

Sorry everyone. As I said it seem that every year at this time something small comes up that is beyond my control.

Gem Candy Programming Compo 2004

The time of year has come again to look towards the annual programming competition. We had some amazing entries last year. Hopefully we can all encourage past participants to join up again and maybe attract a few more people. Rules will stand as last year.

Deadline: 24:00 GMT December 28th

It runs in GEM in any resolution.
- by this it just means that any resolution is
acceptable. Not that it has to run in any resolution. An example would be that it
might need at least 640x400 to run.

It can be a game or toy.
- I think you all know what a game is, a Toy
is something that serves no purpose but to
entertain. There are no goals, scores, etc.

No theme this year.

If you have an entry. Email me at artdept (AT) coinboards (DOT) com

Please spread the word

Slight slow down...

There is a slight slow down right now with Gemcandy. I had a double whammy happen to me at the end of last week and I'm still sorting it out.

First, my laptop's screen has developed a fault and I'm trying to figure how to fix it or what I'm going to do with it.

Secondly Netset, which has hosted an email address for me since the early 90's has had a catastrophic incident. At the moment it is uncertain if I will ever be able to get any of my mail or data I had at the site recovered. I will probably rebuild bits of my old site as time goes on.

So if you have a hard time contacting me, you know whats up right now. Basically 2 of my email accounts are unavailable to me at the moment. I'm hoping to get some screen shots of some of the recent SDL games soon. I can't run them in any manner on this machine so I've been unable to do it myself. If you are up for helping out with Gemcandy, drop me a comment here and I'll try to get in touch with you somehow.
